Tammy & Brendan’s Unforgettable Wedding at Spicers Guesthouse

Some weddings leave you with a feeling that’s hard to put into words—a perfect mix of joy, love, and celebration that lingers long after the final sparkler has faded. Tammy and Brendan’s wedding at the beautiful Spicers Guesthouse in Pokolbin was one of those days. As their Celebrant and MC, I had the privilege of not only guiding their ceremony but also wrangling their lively reception crowd to create a day that was as seamless as it was magical.

Here’s a peek into their incredible wedding day, filled with laughter, heartfelt moments, and a whole lot of love.

Prep check-in: Calm, Cool, and a Little Champers

I started my afternoon checking in with Tammy who was housed at the Cottage on site. The atmosphere was relaxed and Tammy exuded a calm confidence. I even had the honor of helping her snug into her stunning wedding dress—a moment of quiet before the festivities began.

With 40 minutes to spare, I headed off to set up the ceremony sound, run through a quick checklist, and practice a special touch within the ceremony: a movie quote (shared by Brendan in his Questionnaire response) woven into the ceremony. After getting the green light from a fellow vendor (always a good idea!), I was ready to deliver it—and it landed perfectly!

The Ceremony: Laughter, Love, and a Perfect Proposal

With 60 guests gathered around a gorgoes floral arrangement by Cody @theposygarden, Tammy joined Brendan and me for their ceremony. Spicers Guesthouse provided the perfect Pavillion, with the wall and smell of Jasmine creating an atmosphere of intimacy and natural beauty.

Their love story unfolded through a lighthearted narrative, celebrating how their friendship blossomed into love, the core values they share, and the milestones they’ve achieved together. Brendan’s incredible proposal—carefully planned to perfection—had everyone smiling.

Accompanied by the soulful strums of Howard Shearman, Tammy and Brendan exchanged vows that brought both laughter and tears, sealed with rings and a kiss before I had the privilege of pronouncing them NEWLYWEDS!

Instead of signing their registry during the ceremony, the couple opted to capture a group photo with their guests before privately signing in a quiet moment away from the crowd. It was a lovely way to transition everyone into cocktail hour and keep the energy flowing.

The Reception: High Energy and Heartfelt Moments

As MC, I knew wrangling this energetic crowd would be key—and Brendan wasn’t wrong when he warned me! After herding everyone to their seats and running through the house rules, I prepped the guests for an unforgettable entrance. With napkins waving high in the air, we welcomed Tammy and Brendan into the room to thunderous applause and cheers. The energy was electric!

Their runsheet was refreshingly intimate, allowing plenty of time for connection. I used the couple’s Instax camera to snap guest photos for their guestbook—a huge hit that added an extra layer of fun and interaction. It was a wonderful way to bridge the gap during dinner service and bring everyone closer together.

Magical Moments on the Dance Floor

After sunset photos and a quick outfit change into a mini dance dress, Tammy joined Brendan for their first dance under a canopy of festoon lights. Surrounded by their guests holding sparklers, the moment felt straight out of a fairytale—glittering, magical, and unforgettable.

The night carried on with a DJ set by Howard Shearman, who absolutely nailed the vibe. The dance floor was alive and WET from the settling rainfall, HOWEVER the energy was contagious, and I couldn’t resist staying a little longer to literally soak it all in.

A Heartfelt Goodbye

As the clock hit 9:30, it was time to wrap up. Tammy and Brendan were full of gratitude, their joy evident as they thanked me for being part of their day. Walking away passing my final wishes and congratulations, I was met with hugs and praise which was the perfect way to end an unforgettable wedding experience on my behalf.

Tammy and Brendan’s wedding was everything a celebration should be—personal, heartfelt, and brimming with love. It’s days like this that remind me why I ABSOLUTELY adore what I do. Cheers to the Hydes and their happily ever after!
